Pinellas County Tax Collector now processing same-day concealed weapon license renewals

Fast, convenient processing and immediate printing – walk out with your renewed license the same day

CLEARWATER, FLORIDA, MAY 2, 2017 – The Pinellas County Tax Collector’s office now offers same-day concealed weapon license renewal services. Customers may walk in, renew, and walk out with their updated license the same day. Concealed weapon license renewal services are offered at the Tax Collector’s courthouse office located on the third floor of 315 Court Street in downtown Clearwater. Appointments are available by visiting taxcollect.com/cwp.

The Tax Collector began processing new concealed weapon license applications in 2014 to provide residents a convenient, local option for this service. In 2016, the Pinellas County Tax Collector’s office processed 9,078 new concealed weapon license applications.

“Since starting the concealed weapon licensing program at our office, we have received overwhelmingly positive responses from customers who have used the service,” said Charles W. Thomas, Pinellas County Tax Collector. “I am happy to have the opportunity to expand our partnership with the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services so that my office may now offer same-day concealed weapon license renewal services. This is an example of how government should work together to provide the best possible service options for Florida residents.”

Please note that new concealed weapon license applications must still be processed and approved by the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. New licenses are not available the same day as application. They are mailed to the customer after a thorough background check has been completed and once the license is approved.
