Hurricane Irma Update: Tax Collector Offices Closed Friday and Monday

Certain Fees may be Waived for Impacted Residents

WHAT: In light of Pinellas County’s Mandatory Evacuation Order, all Pinellas County Tax Collector offices will be closed on Friday, September 8 and Monday, September 11. Offices are scheduled to reopen at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, September 12, weather permitting.

IMPACT ON RESIDENTS: Services will be unavailable on Friday, September 8 and Monday, September 11. When offices reopen, certain fees may be waived for residents impacted by the storm. For example, if your driver license or tag expires during this closure, the Tax Collector’s Office will not charge a delinquent fee.

The Tax Collector’s Office provides driver license and identification card services, as well as titles and registrations for automobiles, trucks, mobile homes, and vessels. The office also collects and distributes a variety of local taxes including property tax, tangible personal property tax, and tourist development tax.

As part of Governor Rick Scott’s Executive Order Number 17-235:

• Residents of counties affected by Hurricane Irma may not be charged a delinquent fee for late renewal of driver licenses or registrations that resulted from office closures in these affected counties. Delinquent fees for renewal of driver licenses or registrations may also be waived for customers adversely affected by severe weather in counties where office closures do not take place.
• Fees for replacement driver licenses and identification cards may be waived for any customer adversely affected by this severe weather in a way that caused the customer to lose their driver license or identification card. In these cases, offices may waive the $6.25 service fee.
• Fees for duplicate title certificates and duplicate registrations may be waived for any customer adversely affected by this severe weather in a way that caused the customer to lose their title or registration.
