Working in partnership with Florida Department of Highway Safety & Motor Vehicles (DHSMV), Pinellas County Tax Collector Diane Nelson now offers registration renewals online through the “GoRenew” service. The DHSMV security routines will require customers to confirm their identity with a U.S. Social Security number. Visa®, MasterCard® and American Express® cards are all accepted for this service. The Florida DHSMV charges a mail fee which is $2.15 for a license plate, or 70 cents for a decal. 

Vehicle owners have the convenience option of renewing registrations for a two-year period or a one-year period.  Owners may transfer tags from a disposed vehicle to a replacement vehicle, and unexpired registrations will be credited towards their new registration fee.

Please note: Special requests, such as ordering personalized or specialty license plates, cannot be performed online at this time. If you would like to purchase a new specialty plate, call 727-464-7777 and a customer service representative can process your registration for you by phone.
