Veterans Designation

Veterans who live in Florida can add a veteran designation to their driver license or ID card, which is simply a blue “V” on the bottom right portion of the card. Having this designation allows veterans to receive discounts at certain merchants and retailers that offer veteran discounts. To add the “V” to a license or ID card, veterans can visit any driver license office.

They should plan to:

• Present their DD-214, which shows their honorable discharge from active duty.
• Pay a replacement or renewal fee.
• Visit to ensure they have all the other documents required.

Veterans who need to obtain a copy of their DD-214, may request it through the National Archives, which provides information on how to make the request online at
