Pinellas County Tax Collector Teams Up with Preserve Vision Florida
CLEARWATER, FL – An adorable assortment of stuffed animals have taken over tax offices, and it’s all for a good cause.
Throughout the month of March, the Pinellas County Tax Collector’s Office is teaming up with Preserve Vision Florida to support its mission of promoting healthy vision care through screening, education, advocacy, and research. During this time, offices will offer an assortment of vision-related items ranging from lens cloths and children’s sunglasses to stuffed animals with hidden compartments for contact lens and glasses. All proceeds go to Preserve Vision Florida.
In addition, Preserve Vision Florida benefits from the sale of the “Bikers Care” motorcycle specialty license plate. Statewide, more than 15,000 motorcycles are equipped with this patriotic red, white, and blue specialty plate.
According to Preserve Vision Florida, vision disability is the single most common disabling condition among children, and eye disorders are the fifth most prevalent health condition among seniors ages 65 and older.
“Vision is a critical component of safe driving, and passing a vision exam is mandatory to earn and keep a Florida driver license. Supporting Preserve Vision Florida is a natural fit for our office and we are proud to support their mission,” said Pinellas County Tax Collector Charles W. Thomas.
A variety of items are available for a donation to Preserve Vision Florida, including lens cloths ($1), children’s sunglasses ($5), stylus pens ($7), Lenz Frenz® contact lens storing stuffed animals ($10), and large sized Lenz Frenz® stuffed animals with a padded hard case for glasses ($25).
The Pinellas County Tax Collector’s Office is partnering with six Florida nonprofits throughout 2018. Charitable organizations were selected through an application process with an emphasis on each organization’s mission and local impact. All of the selected nonprofits benefit from the sale of specialty license plates and “Organ Donor” driver license designations.
