Construction Begins on New South County Service Center

PINELLAS COUNTY, FL — Pinellas County officials are set to break ground on a new 40,000-square-foot service center at 2500 34th St. N., St. Petersburg, that will offer expanded services for south county residents.

The facility will provide services from the Tax Collector and Property Appraiser, which will be relocated from their current location at 1800 66th St. N., St. Petersburg. The current location serves as many as 1,900 citizens per day.

The relocated facility will offer an improved customer service experience for residents, including more parking and on-site driver license road tests in a closed driving course. The course is designed to handle two road tests simultaneously. The facility is also designed for increased privacy during your visit, a significant benefit for transactions involving private documents like birth certificates and social security cards.

Construction at the new site is expected to be completed in summer 2020, with the Tax Collector and Property Appraiser offices relocating to the 34th Street North location shortly thereafter.

The $10 million build-to-suit construction project is the result of a land swap agreement between the County and Belleair Development Group. Belleair Development Group will own the building and the County will be a tenant. The County will have an option to purchase the building after the first year of tenancy.
