All original Florida Concealed Weapon License applications are reviewed by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and licenses are mailed to recipients.

- If a U.S. citizen born outside the U.S.: U.S. passport, Certificate of Birth Abroad (FS-240), Certification of Report of Birth (DS-1350), Certificate of Naturalization (N-550 or N-570) or Certificate of Citizenship (N-560 or N-561)
- If a permanent resident alien: USCIS documentation showing permanent resident alien status (I-551)
- Applicants who are not U.S. citizens or permanent resident aliens do not qualify for a concealed weapon license.
- Please note: If paying by credit card, our third-party payment processor, Grant Street Group, will charge a convenience fee of 2.95% of the transaction total with a minimum of $2.50.

Concealed Weapon License renewals with no changes are printed same-day in our office.
Approximately 95 days before the expiration date of your license, the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services will send you a renewal notice. Please note: You must be within 90 days of your expiration date in order to renew at our location. You may mail your renewal notice with payment to the address listed on the notice, or you may renew with same-day printing at our Concealed Weapon License office located on the 2nd floor of the building that houses our North County Tax Collector’s office at 29399 US Highway 19 North, Suite 280 in Clearwater.
If you choose to renew at our office, all you have to do is schedule an appointment by clicking here. On your appointment day, bring your unsigned form with you. We will take your picture, submit your renewal to the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services electronically for their records, and print your updated card for you. Required Information for Renewals
1. YOU MUST HAVE: Your Concealed Weapon License Number or Concealed Weapon License Renewal Notice
2. State issued Photo ID that includes full name and date of birth
3. Legal name change documentation if applicable i.e. marriage certificate, court records, etc. Our office can process the name change, however, we cannot print the renewal. FDACS will mail the license to you.
If for some reason you fail to renew your Concealed Weapon License by its expiration date, keep in mind that it can be renewed up to six (6) months beyond the expiration date, in accordance with section 790.06(11)(a), Florida Statutes. However, there is a late fee of $15 for renewing after the expiration date. A Concealed Weapon License that has been expired for longer than six months cannot be renewed. If you fail to renew within that six-month period after expiration, you will have to apply for a new license. You cannot carry a concealed weapon or firearm after your license has expired.
Transfer of Out-of-State Concealed Weapon License
Q1: What will happen once I arrive?
A1: First, one of our staff members will direct you to a computer station where you will complete an online application form. (Please note that you do not need to complete an application form in advance.) We will review your application for completeness, take your photograph, and electronically scan your fingerprints.
Q2: How long will it take to do this?
A2: You should be able to complete the entire process in an hour or less.
Q3: How long will it take for FDACS to process my new concealed weapon license application?
A3: By law, FDACS has 90 days from the date your application is submitted to process it (Section 790.06, Florida Statutes). However, using our fast-track process, the wait is considerably shorter. You may always check on the status of your application by calling (850) 245-5691 and selecting option 1 or by checking on the FDACS website.
Q4: Is your office responsible for deciding who is eligible to receive a concealed weapon license?
A4: No, our office will simply be accepting applications, taking ID photos, and fingerprinting applicants. The FDACS will continue to process all applications and make determinations regarding an applicant’s eligibility for licensure.
Q5: Is my personal information still protected and exempt from public record if I apply in person at your office?
A5: This convenience does not change the integrity of the concealed weapon license program. All personal identifying information of applicants and licensees will continue to be confidential and exempt from disclosure as public records. (Section 790.0601, Florida Statutes)
Q6: Can I renew my concealed weapon license at your office?
A6: You can easily renew online or by scheduling an appointment at one of our offices. Once you receive the renewal form from FDACS, approximately 95 days before the expiration date of your license, you may schedule an appointment and we will process your renewal application and provide you your updated license. Or, skip the trip and renew online.
Q7: Can I change my address on my concealed weapon license at your office?
A7: No, you will need to contact the FDACS directly to notify them of your change of address. Click here for more information.
Q8: Are there discounts for active or retired Florida law enforcement employees?
A8: Yes, however, you must bring the following documentation to qualify for the reduced licensing fees.
Retired Florida Law Enforcement Required Documentation
If you are retired from a Florida law enforcement agency by which you were employed as a law enforcement officer, correctional officer, or correctional probation officer, you must bring a copy of an official document that shows the date of your retirement and the name of the public agency from which you retired. Simply having been formerly employed at one time as a law enforcement officer, correctional officer, or correctional probation officer is not sufficient. Note also that Florida law does not extend this fee exemption to federal law enforcement retirees or law enforcement retirees from other states.
Active Florida Law Enforcement Required Documentation
You must bring an official letter on agency letterhead stating that you are currently employed with that agency as a law enforcement officer, correctional officer, or correctional probation officer. The letter must be signed by the agency head, the agency’s authorized representative, or the agency’s personnel officer.
Expedited Service for Active Military Members and Veterans
Our office is proud to assist with the expediting of Florida Concealed Weapon License applications for active military members and veterans.
Active military personnel who want to expedite their Florida Concealed Weapon License application should bring a copy of their Common Access Card or another form of official military identification to our office on their scheduled appointment date. We can also accept a copy of service members’ current orders as proof of active duty status. Honorably discharged veterans should bring a copy of their DD 214 long form.
